Disseminating "Vital Signs": Deaf Community-Engaged Research to Improve Healthcare Access
$45K Finalists

Deaf people have experienced long histories of mistreatment in the U.S. healthcare system and clinical research world. Understandably, many harbor feelings of mistrust toward the medical community. Our Deaf-engaged research team produced a film to improve healthcare providers service to Deaf patients. Our proposed solution is to disseminate the film via community events, for which we will partner Deaf community agencies with local academic medical centers to build new collaborations and begin to rectify mistrust.
